What Judges and Court Staff Need to Know About Strangulation

Casey Gwinn, J.D., Gael Strack, J.D., Judge Lee Chitwood andJim Henderson, MSW will share new resource tools, emerging sentencing statutes, case law, and court considerations in handling strangulation cases. Casey Gwinn and Gael Strack will discuss the impact of bail and jail reform and share sentencing considerations. Judge Lee Chitwood will share his new bench card and “Judicial Checklist for Motions to Dissolve Protective Orders” as well as lessons learned handling strangulation cases, and Jim Henderson will discuss the use of risk assessment tools and the role of probation/parole.
