The Justice Project is the newest program of Alliance for HOPE International. The Justice Project focuses on suspicious death cases where a woman has died after a history of domestic violence. The Justice Project hosts a nationally recognized course called “Hidden Homicides: Overcoming the Challenges of Staged Crime Scenes” for the US Department of Justice and makes the course available to professionals of all backgrounds every year in Estes Park, CO.

In California, The Justice Project recently passed the first Suspicious Death statute in the United States, Joanna’s Law, providing legislative findings and statutory direction to medical legal investigators handling suspicious death cases. Joanna’s Law also includes The Justice Project’s Ten Red Flag Factors to be analyzed in any death case before a determination is made on cause and manner of death. Other states are now working with us to pass similar laws across the country.

The Justice Project has been featured on NBC’s Dateline, WGN, and many other print and electronic media outlets. In Denver, our work resulted in the murder conviction of Robert Feldman for the murder of Stacy Feldman in 2015. Dateline produced a two-hour special on the case called “The Sisterhood” and did a special short feature on the work of Gael Strack, Casey Gwinn, and Dr. Bill Smock, the founders of The Justice Project.

Families often reach out toThe Justice Project for assistance after the death of a loved one when they do not believe the death was an accident or suicide. Law enforcement agencies also regularly work with The Justice Project for assistance and expertise when they identify a suspicious death, during the early investigative stages of a case.

The Justice Project is supported by the family members of lost loved ones who have started VOICES for Victims of Hidden Homicides, an advocacy and support group.
